                LOTTOCHECK - POOLS 6 FROM 38, V1.07 (01/10/90).

The POOLS 6-38 version of LOTTOCHECK, is a direct conversion of
the other LOTTOCHECK program versions. The manual associated with
POOLS 6-38 is the same manual as distributed with the 6-45 Australia-
wide and 6-44 NSW versions of the program. Note the following points:

        - This version can test Games of 6 numbers, through to SYSTEM 15's.

        - The data starts when the POOLS 6-38 game took over from the
          earlier 6 FROM 36 game. ie. 20/04/1985.

        - The POOLS people changed their Draw numbering system at 03/08/85
when they turned it back to Draw Number 1, and from which they
have counted onwards and upwards since, regardless of the year
(ie. the Draw No: for 22/09/90 is 269. Prior to that [in the old
6 From 36 game they used to restart the Draw No: to 1 at the
beginning of each year]). The relevance of this to your newly
acquired program, is that I have had to call the first 15 Draws
in the database (ie. those on the old numbering system) all Draw
No: 0 , to get them correctly positioned at the start of the
indexed database file. This doesn't affect the analysis in any
          way.

        - Unlike LOTTO as draw from barrels, POOLS can miss draws, because
it is based on the actual soccer results in England. For example
there are 4 weeks when no games were played, and hence no result
          in Soccer  Pools: No:149  on 4/6/88 due to extremely bad weather;
and no's 199,200,201 when the soccer was called off, after all
those people got crushed to death at one of the British stadiums.

        - The numbers are stored in numeric order. ie. Because balls are
not draw from a barrel, there is no sense in having a "Drawn
order" (ie. you are not losing any information by sorting the
numbers - as you would be if you sorted the balls draw from a
machine). As such, the only sub-option of the [H]ISTOGRAM option,
that is meaningfull is the [0] sub-option - ie. where "drawn
          order" doesn't matter.

Best of Luck with the LIFE and POOLS.................Steven Goschnick 01/10/90.
